2010 – What is ahead?

2009 – the year of the Ox – was a hard working year. I think the one word that can be linked to it most strongly would be ‘recession.’
Like many, I didn’t know what this recession would mean for my family, or our business. Assets had to be reevaluated, along with finances and values. Everyone had to switch from investing in material goods, to investing in themselves and their loved ones. We spent more time at home, taking joy in simple pleasures. And we had to work at providing more value in all aspects of our lives. The year of 2009 might have been somewhat unpredictable, but on the other hand it taught us how to tap into our own box of resources we didn’t know we had.
Now, as we come into the new year, reports stake claim to the “technical” end to the recession – as well as the steady decline in consumer spending. It seems that, regardless of the current economic situation, we are now living within our means without relying on credit or spending on meaningless material things.
So, the year of 2009 served as a good time for evaluation and a great platform to move on to 2010 with a new attitude, vision, and values. I’m feeling very positive with the changes that have taken place, and the new direction I feel like I’m going in for 2010, and I hope it’s the same for you!
